More Examples Of Hate Coming From Far Right Regarding Health Care

Across this great nation, far-right Republicans and conservatives continue to engage in the politics of fear and smear with regard to health care.

Media Matters for America has begun a list to document the extremist language being used by many of those on the far right. And, not surprisingly, some of the worst offenders are Rush Limbaugh and Fox News. This is, of course, no big surprise. Limbaugh and Fox News have been working overtime defending pretty much anything coming from the far right and demonizing just about everything coming from the far left. At least Limbaugh is honest about being dangerously hateful and conservative. With him, what you see is what you get. Fox News, on the other hand, lies about being fair and balanced while being anything but fair and balanced.

Health care has driven the far right to sanity's breaking point. The right wing has mobilized in an effort to do everything within its power (using its public relations team, Fox News, to get it done).

Here are a few of the insane comments from some on the far right:

RUSH LIMBAUGH: "Mullah Nancy Bin Pelosi ... is no different" than those who "convince all these people to put bombs on their kids."

LIMBAUGH: Democrats are "the kamikaze party."

ANDREW BREITBART: Calls President Obama "Suicide-Bomber-In-Chief."

MONICA CROWLEY: Health care reform is Democrats' "suicide mission."

Limbaugh is an unpatriotic extremist, Breitbart is a nut and an extremist and Crowley is just .... Monica Crowley (if you have seen her on Fox News you know how little she really has to offer that is positive and fair).

These are but a VERY few samples of hate speech compiled by Media Matters for America illustrating the lengths to which far-right conservatives will go to derail health care and demonize opponents.

Far-Right Bill Kristol Comes To Defense Of Rep. Joe Wilson

Rep. Joe Wilson’s outrageous and disgraceful outburst during President Obama’s speech before a joint session of Congress has set in and now some of the far-right commentators are beginning to come to the defense of their newly-declared hero (perhaps he represents their feelings, attitudes, professionalism and ability to self control). I am not contending that Wilson should have someone put a foot up his ass and sending him flying out of Congress. But, he does not to be soundly condemned for his ridiculous outburst that bring into question his mental stability.

Predictably on Fox, Kristol had this to say:

KRISTOL: Can I just say one thing? He [Obama] is leading his party off a cliff, and Speaker Pelosi is going to lead his party — her party off the cliff if they try to rebuke Joe Wilson.

He has apologized. It will be a disgrace if they do some stunt in the House to try to humiliate this man, who is, in fact — has a reputation for bipartisanship on the Armed Services Committee and the Foreign Relations Committee he’s on.

Obama and Pelosi are leading the party off a cliff, I think, and I hope a lot of Democrats say, Slow down. Let’s take a look at this bill.

People on both sides of the aisle have come together to condemn the garbage the world heard from Wilson. This should not be a partisan issue in the very least. This is something both sides should be able to come together and denounce. The fact that Kristol is saying something like this shows how irrational and unreasonable he is for the lack of respect and discipline shown by Wilson. Kristol, rather skillfully, has tried to twist this around and use it as an excuse to attack President Obama and Speaker Nancy Pelosi. This is not about President Obama and Speaker Pelosi. This is about Joe Wilson.

David Letterman’s Top 10 Excuses For Rep. Joe Wilson’s Outrage

On The Late Show, comedian David Letterman’s popular Top 10 list examines Republican Rep. Joe Wilson’s bizarre, undisciplined and disrespectful outburst during President Obama’s speech before a joint session of Congress.

Fox And Friends Hosts Are Ridiculous

Leave it to Fox News to come to the rescue of just about any Republican who gets in trouble.

The hosts of Fox and Friends are reaching like crazy in their effort to somewhat defend the disgraceful demonstration of South Carolina Republican U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson.

Predictably, Fox News anchors Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade (card-carrying right wingers) tried to drag down House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (a favorite target of right wingers who need someone to attack) and others (comparing apples to oranges) to take the heat off Wilson’s disgraceful actions. Wilson showed a lack of respect and a lack of discipline, civility and self control with his outburst as he screamed “you lie” like an uncivilized town hall nut at one of the president’s comments.

The Pelosi situation was a completely different situation. This is a reach even for Fox and Friends.

As one commenter said on this thread … if you ever get in trouble just put (R) by your name and you can ensure that regardless of your crime Fox News is probably going to come to your defense.

Check Out Fox News Story About Paul Newman Resolution

The United States House of Representatives honored the late actor Paul Newman’s “humanitarian works and incomparable talents have made him an American icon who will never be forgotten.”

This Fox News story was dated Feb. 25, 2009:

WASHINGTON — Paul Newman, the late actor and 10-time Academy Award nominee, has been honored by lawmakers as a screen legend and humanitarian.

Newman died Sept. 26, 2008, at age 83 after a long battle with cancer. The House on Tuesday night approved a resolution recognizing Newman’s achievements on and off screen.

The resolution said Newman’s “humanitarian works and incomparable talents have made him an American icon who will never be forgotten.”

The Hollywood star won one Oscar and took home two honorary ones, and had major roles in more than 50 motion pictures, including “Cool Hand Luke,” “Exodus,” “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” “The Verdict,” “The Sting” and “Absence of Malice.”

Newman and his popular food company, Newman’s Own, have given more than $250 million to charity over the years. He also helped to start “Hole in the Wall” camps across the world for children with life-threatening illnesses.

Now that is interesting.

Here is what House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said about a resolution honoring Michael Jackson that was brought up by Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee:

“I don’t think it’s necessary for us to have a resolution,” Pelosi told reporters during her weekly press conference.

“In his case, if the idea is to praise the life and work, as I assume that resolution does, then why not do that?” she said. “A resolution, I think, would open up to contrary views to — that are not necessary at this time to be expressed in association with a resolution whose purpose is quite different.”

Pelosi is probably correct that it would open matters up contrary views (particularly from haters like the less-than-noble Rep. Peter King), but is that enough to stop it when it seems the precedent already has been set?

I am not necessarily advocating resolutions of these times, but don’t act like this one for Michael Jackson is unprecedented. It is not unprecedented.

If Pelosi and/or others want to stop these types of resolutions, then fine by me. But, they need to be consistent. Or, at the very least, she and others need to make the case why this should be different.

Newt Gingrich On Nancy Pelosi: Pot Meet Kettle

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, who in many circles is more lowly thought of than former President George W. Bush, is flapping his gums again. Gingrich, who has had his own public struggles, is on the attack against current Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

This is from Think Progress:

“I think she has lied to the House, and I think that the House has an absolute obligation to open an inquiry, and I hope there will be a resolution to investigate her. And I think this is a big deal. I don’t think the Speaker of the House can lie to the country on national security matters,” Gingrich said.

He continued: “I think this is the most despicable, dishonest and vicious political effort I’ve seen in my lifetime.” “She is a trivial politician, viciously using partisanship for the narrowest of purposes, and she dishonors the Congress by her behavior.”

I am not the biggest Nancy Pelosi fan, but the ethically-challenged Gingrich has a lot of nerve bashing anyone for being a trivial politician, using partisanship for the narrowest purposes and dishonoring Congress. Apparently there are no mirrors in the Gingrich household. It just goes to show the arrogance of someone like Newt Gingrich.

Next, O.J. Simpson and Chris Brown will be condemning people committing domestic violence.
