Has there been a double standard with the reaction to David Letterman for his joke about one of Sarah Palin’s daughters? The right wing has been very upset about the Letterman-Palin feud. Huffington Post is reporting about a catch made by Alan Colmes about a comparable joke made by Jay Leno, during an episode of The Tonight Show (Sept. 2, 2008) about the Palin daughter who became pregnant.
LENO: Gov. Palin announced over the weekend that her 17-year-old unmarried daughter is five months pregnant. And you thought John Edwards was in trouble before! Now he has really done it.
That’s very interesting. I don’t recall hearing much of an uproar about that particular joke. In fact, it’s the first time I’ve ever heard of the joke. Could the uproar be because Letterman is considered to be more politically liberal than Leno or maybe because Gov. Palin is trying to remain in the media spotlight since the election loss in November?
