The Web site Think Progress also brought this to attention. "As the AP also notes, last year, Westmoreland 'led opposition to renewing the 1965 Voting Rights Act. He also was one of two House members last year who opposed giving the Justice Department more money to crack unsolved civil rights killings.'" So, apparently, Rep. Lynn Westmoreland has a history of showing opposition to policies that advance racial healing and racial equality. How could someone, in this era, lead an opposition to renewing the 1965 Voting Rights Act. Also, to think that he was against federal monies to track down and bring to justice perpetrators of civil rights killings ... KILLINGS. How could someone be against tracking down killers? Who are the voters in this man's district?
