Palin Belittles Community Organizers To Make Herself Look Good

Gov. Sarah Palin mocked and belittled community organizers in her speech during the Republican National Convention in an attempt to attack Sen. Barack Obama. She smiled as she put down the lack of responsibility that community organizers have and laughed about their roles in communities like the ones Obama served in Chicago. Apparently, Palin does not think it's a worthwhile venture for men and women to go out into the community and be activists in ways that help real people. Now, Palin may not like it because it's a little more difficult to secure millions of dollars in earmarks for Alaskan people as an organizer in a small community in Chicago. Community organizers are critical to the successes of communities and they serve an important role in helping real people solve real problems ... the kinds of problems people like Sen. John McCain appears to be out of touch with. Palin, for all of her talk and all of the Republicans efforts to frame her as this caring family woman, she seems horribly out of touch with the plight of real people in inner-city communities like Chicago. How is Palin qualified to understand the issues of real people in diverse areas like Chicago? Palin talks a good game with a speech, some speech coaches, some policy coaches and a receptive audience, but how will she be in big urban cities like Chicago, Detroit, New York, Los Angeles and elsewhere speaking to the issues that are crippling the middle class? Does she speak to those people the way she tries to speak to small-town people? She talks a good game to a right-wing audience, but how does she speak to mainstream America. I've heard people refer to her as a star, but isn't that what they've worked so hard to criticize Obama for being (with that silly Paris Hilton and Britney Spears ad and some of the other ones)?
