One of my biggest beefs with the Republican Party is a lack of diversity. More significantly, I am troubled by the unwillingness of Republicans to even work to feature the black and brown Republicans already in their party ... individuals who have worked hard for conservatives in their different pockets of the United States. I don't always agree, politically, with so many of my black conservative brothers and sisters, but they deserve to be recognized and they should be featured if the Republicans are eventually going to try and prove that they are not a party that is exclusive ... culturally and economically. It was difficult, at the Republican National Convention, to find many black faces or hear many black voices. Where were the Latino faces and the Latino voices ... and so on and so forth? They were mostly nonexistent in a convention for a party many people view as out of touch with not only everyday people, but also out of touch with issues that impact the lives of people of different cultures and from mostly opposite socioeconomic backgrounds. This is one of the reasons I have moved away from the Republicans in recent years and now consider my political views far more in line with Democrats who are better in touch with the issues that impact the lives of people who represent far more of a cross section of the United States as a country - not just the rich and privileged. Republicans have to reach beyond their rock-solid base of people who are -almost across the board - white. The party needs to be more inclusive and a little less exclusive.
