ESPN has what appears to be an open forum and I am in no way saying this has any reflection on the organization. I can respect that. Read this message pretty closely.
AUBURNTIGERFAN83 (Thu Dec 18 17:20:22 EST 2008)you could give all 120 ncaa football teams a black coach and they still wouldnt be happy because they would find something else to gripe about like they didnt make as much as the white coaches did or there arent enough black quarterbacks or people arent wearing enough black shoes or some kind of B.S. that deals with race. im tired of the have pity on blacks thing because that crap ended 40+ yrs ago…GET OVER IT!!! LIFES NOT FAIR
COMMENTS: Instead of facing racism head on … many conservative whites become very angry when racism is called out. “They still wouldn’t be happy because they would find something else to gripe about like they didnt make as much as white coaches or there aren’t enough black quarterbacks …” Apparently it’s wrong for black people to want to make the same amount of money as white people. This writer says or implies that is outlandish. This writer is stuck in the past. We have black quarterbacks now. There are good black quarterbacks, too. This is the kind of garbage that puts racism in a comfort zone. The writer says “that crap ended 40+ yrs ago … GET OVER IT!!! LIFES NOT FAIR.” This is the kind of stupid stuff that keeps racism alive. This is the kind of individual frightened to confront and stamp out racism. This is the ostrich mentality (put your head in the ground and hope that it just goes away on its own). Sadly, however, racism does not work that way. Racism needs a little help in going away, but as long as there are those who are afraid to confront racism, it will always have a safe haven in our society.
