Republican Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal could be the future of the GOP if the conservatives are smart enough to recognize. It’s reasonable to have doubts about the leadership of the Republican Party when it spends so much time trying to manufacture controversies out of benign so-called “associations” with respect to President-elect Barack Obama. In other words, the GOP has clearly taken its eyes off the ball in its exasperation over how to stop the journey to progress (the election of Obama) in the United States. Jindal, as speculation would have it, is having his name thrown in the hat for a possible run for president in 2012. This would be, at least at this point, a colossal mistake. Jindal has t pick his battle a little more wisely (I think he will) and wait until the time is right (more likely 2016). Said Jindal, “I think anybody who is even thinking of running would be well served to roll up their sleeves and support our new president. I told our people, ‘It doesn’t matter whether you’re Republican, Democrat or independent, it doesn’t matter whether you voted for him or not, President-elect Barack Obama is our president.’” Whether he believes that last part or not is irrelevant. The point is that he is speaking wisely. The real question is: Could the close-minded Republican Party, with a base that is almost exclusively white, could truly accept a candidate like Jindal?
