I was reading this entry on the Fox News Web site about whether or not Hank Aaron she be restored as the all-time baseball leader in home runs - in spite of the fact Barry Bonds has hit more homers.
Barry Bonds, now Alex Rodriguez… Major League Baseball’s current and possibly future home run kings now carry the scarlet letter of the steroid scandal. Commissioner Bud Selig reportedly is considering giving back the crown to Hank Aaron, while placing asterisks next to the records of Bonds, Rodriguez and any others found to have taken illegal substances during their playing days.
Selig is a big fan and good friend of Aaron and probably would love little more than to make this move. But, he will watch how the politics of it play out. While Selig and others may view Bonds as an illegitimate career home runs leader, many others will view Aaron as illegitimate if he is restored as the home run champion of all time. Selig is best served to keep his nose out of it.
