Tom Daschle Learns A Tough Lesson
Tom Daschle has withdrawn his name from consideration to become the Secretary for Health and Human Services. Some people will look at this as a bad day for the Democrats, but don’t think it’s as bad as it will be played up by some people on both sides of the political aisle. four, five, six years from now few people will remember and even fewer will care about Daschle being in the running for this cabinet position in the administration of President Barack Obama. I suspect Obama was just trying to throw a bone to one of the old-school Democrats and reward him with a position in this Democratic administration. It didn’t work out and now Daschle (like Bill Richardson) has to step aside. Like Richardson, Daschle made the proper decision under the circumstances (tax issues that it now appears he has taken care of). A few small bumps in the road for a new administration but nothing to go off screaming in a Bill O’Reilly-like panic attack.
