I have been amused by some old-school Republicans trying to compare President Barack Obama to former president Jimmy Carter (the most recent Democrat to be president that Republicans think was no good). It has been difficult to attack former president Bill Clinton other than to bring up the misguided and wasteful effort to impeach him. C-SPAN conducted a Presidential Leadership Survey that ranked the presidents of the United States over the course of history. One of the more interesting aspects of the rankings (in my mind) had to do with Carter vs. our most recent former president, George W. Bush. Carter ranks 25th among our presidents all time while G.W. Bush ranks 36th.
UPDATE: Upon closer review, George W. Bush ranks behind even Herbert Hoover (who is 34th). Ouch!
