Gov. Sarah Palin clearly showed a lack of respect not only for moderator Gwen Ifill but, to a certain extent, she was disrespectful of the vice presidential debate format. As you may recall, she defiantly declared to Ifill, debate opponent Sen. Joe Biden and to the viewing public, "I may not answer the questions that either the moderator or you want to hear." Essentially, she spit in the face of the moderator and the format - and did it with a smile on her face. Politico counted at least 10 times that the overprepared and almost robotic Gov. Palin reverted to talking points she was likely coached to spit out to anticipated questions. I pulled this passage from Think Progress, "On NBC’s Meet The Press today, debate moderator Gwen Ifill said that Palin 'more than ignored' her questions. 'Blew me off I think is the technical term,' said Ifill." It was clear that Gov. Palin did not respect Ifill and it was eerily reminiscent of the way that Sen. McCain treated Sen. Barack Obama as if he was a manservant (circa the 1950s or 1960s). Sen. McCain did everything short of call Obama "boy" and Gov. Palin treated Ifill with a similar lack of respect.
