Strategy Of Fear Infects Sen. John McCain’s Efforts Through Campaign Of Hatred … Via The Telephone

Here is an excerpt from a Huffington Post column by Sam Stein:

In his efforts to attack Barack Obama, John McCain appears to have turned to the same political consulting firm that was responsible for spreading vicious smears about the Senator during the 2000 South Carolina GOP primary.
In recent days,
the Huffington Post and other outletshave reported on the McCain-funded nationwide robocall campaign charging that Barack Obama “worked closely with” former 60s radical William Ayers. Another RNC/McCain campaign call states that Obama is a “celebrity” politician who was fundraising in Hollywood during the financial crisis.

This is yet another example of the obsessive drive of the Republicans to win the presidency by any means they feel would be necessary. This scorched-earth brand of politics is disgusting and offensive to what politics should truly be about. It is part of the ongoing campaign to paint Sen. Obama as a “terrorist,” as “anti-American,” as “different than us,” and so on. He once referred to them as “hate calls” when they were used against him by George W. Bush in 2000. Now, he is doing it. It’s reprehensible. It’s John McCain.
