Hank Williams Jr. Should Call His Next Song, “Are You Ready For Some Goofball?”

As a fan of Monday Night Football, I had long been a fan of the opening “Are You Ready For Some Football” song of Hank Williams Jr. But, while I may still appreciate the song, I will always think Williams should replace the “football” with the word “goofball” to title his autobiography. Williams was on the Fox News “business” show with Neil Cavuto. Here is the passage from News Hounds that caught my attention, “Cavuto opened by playing a new radio ad Williams made for the McCain camp: ‘Hello. This is Hank Williams, Jr. When Barack Obama said folks like you and me were bitter, and clinging to guns and religion, I knew he just doesn’t understand small town America. We love our God, and we love our guns, specially handed down from our grandfathers. And we resent it when liberals like Obama question our way of life. Don’t be bitter. Vote McCain.’” When we start taking advice from the not-exactly-scholarly Sarah Palin fan Hank Williams Jr., regardless of how good of a musician he may be, I have to think that’s a sign that something just isn’t right. Apparently he didn’t hear right-winger Karl Rove say the same thing about people clinging to guns and religion only to be called out on it by Alan Colmes and then try to lie his way out of it by saying he was quoting Sen. Barack Obama.
