Partisan Fox News Channel Is Working Hard To Bring Back Wright, Ayers stories to Smear Sen. Barack Obama

Feeling the election beginning to slip through their fingers, the Republican Party is resorting to essentially the last card they have to play - the if-all-else-fails ploy: Emphasize Sen. Barack Obama’s “associations” with Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Bill Ayers. Sen. John McCain, who pledged to run a clean campaign that focused on the issues, has done his cannonball dive into the mud of political desperation. Sen. McCain has sacrificed any right to hold himself up as the model of integrity with his campaign’s dishonorable use of the race card that is a follow-up to the disgusting ad that tried to portray Sen. Obama as someone who wanted to teach sex education (the McCain campaign is grossly misleading the public with this disgusting and discredited claim) to kids. Now, he is attempting to play the race and fear cards to try and paint Sen. Obama as "risky,” “radical,” “dangerous” and not like most American people. Sen. Obama has taken the high road through the majority of this campaign. He said, ”I was a little surprised over the last couple of days to hear … Sen. McCain’s campaign say that we want to turn the page on discussions about the economy and campaign, a member of Sen. McCain’s campaign saying today that if we talk about the economic crisis we lose,” Obama said. The tone of the campaign has become increasingly ugly as Republicans cast a cloud of negativity over this historic presidential campaign with divisive rhetoric as they amplify the politics of personal destruction designed to win this election at all costs. Said Sen. Obama, “I have got news for the McCain campaign - the American people are losing right now. They are losing their jobs - they are losing their health care. They are losing their homes and their savings. I cannot imagine anything more important to talk about than the economic crisis. And the notion that we would want to brush that aside and engage in the usual political shenanigans and smear tactics that have come to characterize too many campaigns.” It’s a crying shame the divisive, erratic and hostile McCain campaign is more focused on Rev. Wright and Ayers than they are on the issues that will improve the lives of the American people in the future.
