While the Republican National Committee is dishing $150,000 on “clothes and accessories” for Gov. Sarah Palin to dress up (instead of perhaps on a U.S. Government class so she can understand the duties of the vice president) Republican strategist (whatever that means) Brad Blakeman is bashing Sen. Barack Obama. Sen. Obama, who is flying back to Hawaii to visit his apparently gravely-ill or seriously-ill grandmother, was ripped by Blakeman for “taking a 767 plane to go visit Grandma.” Here is another delicate comment from one of those ultra-sensitive Republicans, “Forget about the energy that is wasted, what about the hundreds of thousands of dollars to take a private trip when this guy should be humping his bags on a commercial plane or taking a smaller plane. Taking a 767 of campaign money from people who could least afford it is more of an outrage in my opinion.” How sad is this? How desperate are Republicans to try and defend Gov. Palin that they are bashing Sen. Obama for taking a plane that is too big to go visit his ailing grandmother who recently got out of the hospital. Blakeman (wiping his feet on the last traces of that “compassionate conservatism” that President George W. Bush tried to sell to us) should be ashamed of himself, but I think you need a certain level of character, class and integrity to be able to feel any sense of shame. Blakeman’s try was a pitiful defense of Gov. Palin.
