Apparently, feeling like a cornered wild animal with nothing to lose, the McCain campaign is pulling out all the stops (human decency) in viciously attacking Sen. Barack Obama through racial code and the politics of personal destruction. We’ve heard all kinds of talk of associations with Sen. Obama. Strangely, the Republicans do not seem to be talking about the associations of their own candidate, Sen. McCain. That must be by accident, right? “Should McCain be held responsible for having served with segregationalists when he was 8 years old, 18 years old, 28 years old, 38 years old, 48 years old, 58 years old, 68 years old?” said Representative Jesse Jackson Jr. “Did he ever meet with any of them? Did he ever conference with them or work with them? Did McCain quit the Senate instead of work with them?Did Sarah Palin throw her husband out of the house for advocating secession from the union?” Of course not, the Republicans have been hypocritical with regard to guilt-by-association politics. It’s OK to point out Jeremiah Wright and Michael Pfleger, with discussions about Sen. Obama, then it’s OK to point out Rod Parsley and John Hagee with Sen. McCain. If it’s OK to talk about Tony Rezko, for Sen. Obama, then it has to be OK to discuss Charles Keating. If it’s OK to talk about Bill Ayers, with Sen. Obama, then it has to be OK to discuss G. Gordon Liddy, with Sen. McCain. Well, lets see how dirty Sen. McCain is willing to be in an effort to win this election at all costs.
